The Belfast Framer was opened for business in 1990. The idea to open the shop came to me when I found myself without a job after 3 years of working as a professional framer at a prominent art gallery. I realized there was a need for an excellent frame shop here in Belfast, and in addition to that I had found a profession that I loved. For 12 years the business existed solely as a frame shop until the winter of 2002 when there was an opportunity to expand. I needed more space and once the space was available it lent itself beautifully to a small intimate gallery.

The frame shop has well over 1000 exquisite frame samples to choose from. I collect them the way some women collect shoes! I work closely with my clients to ensure that they will be completely satisfied with their final design. Besides custom framing we offer restoration and installation services. We feature photo frames and ready mades plus an unusual collection of boxed art cards.

Since 2002 the gallery has shown a diverse collection of art, featuring very large abstract canvases to beautiful found object sculptures of wood, metals and elements of nature. We have had print shows, installation art, artists book exhibits to name just a few. The artists who have exhibited here at the gallery are mostly from our wonderful state of Maine, but also include a few who are "from away". I look for art that is exciting and diverse.

For the past 36 years, I have lived in nearby Montville with my husband in a 200 year old farmhouse on a hill. Together we raised our two beautiful children, along with lots of animals and a bountiful vegetable garden.
