DUET: Kathy Weinberg & Jeffrey Ackerman

DUET: Kathy Weinberg & Jeffrey Ackerman: Painting, Sculpture, Photography
August 27 through September 20
Opening reception on Friday, August 29th, from 5:30 to 8:00 p.m

Duet, the two-person show, features the work of Kathy Weinberg and Jeffrey Ackerman. They have previously shown in New York, Germany and Maine, and this is their third show together in the span of three decades. Working in a wide range of mediums—painting, photography and three-dimensional works in wood, stone and bronze, allows the artists to express similar ideas in a variety of materials. Their art examines the expressive properties of each medium and the process that each one demands. The forms are discovered as much as they are created. Their sculpture has a classical modern structure that also references the archaic. Kathy’s work includes painting, sculpture and photography. Her work combines vibrant color combinations, sepia tones and reflections to enhance the theatricality of the mysterious and cryptic content. Jeffrey is a painter and sculptor whose work depicts psychic or metaphysical dramas incorporating naturalistic, architectonic and geometric forms. They are both greatly influenced by their careers in antique and architectural restoration, including several historic period room installations at museums including the MFA in Boston and the Metropolitan Museum in New York. Together they run a company specializing in conservation and restoration of antique furniture and architecture.
